About Ken

Ken Honick, Chief of Police for Elizabeth Township and a proud 1996 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, is running for the Elizabeth Forward School Board, driven by a deep commitment to school safety and the well-being of his own children and all students. As a father of four, with three currently attending EF elementary schools, Ken's dedication to creating secure learning environments is both professional and profoundly personal.

Ken  brings over two decades of extensive public safety experience to his candidacy, having served in private, local, and federal law enforcement, including significant roles with the Metropolitan Police, Metro Transit Police, and the FBI in Washington D.C. His background includes federal task force work, specialized investigations, and coordinating police services for major national events like Presidential Inaugurations and professional sports championships.

Since becoming Chief in 2021, Ken has been instrumental in expanding police services to all seven EFSD campuses and fostering collaborations with neighboring districts to enhance campus safety and emergency preparedness.

He advocates for a proactive, strategically planned approach to school security, emphasizing robust emergency response plans, secure access, and the implementation of advanced technologies. Ken's unique perspective, combining his high-level law enforcement expertise with his personal investment as an Elizabeth Forward parent, makes him an exceptional candidate to ensure the district's schools are safe, supportive, and conducive to every student's success.

He believes in Elizabeth Forward, its schools, and the potential of every student, hoping to earn the community’s trust to contribute meaningfully to the district’s bright future.
